Hari Raya Celebration & Pesta Tanglung

The Leo Club of Sri Kuala Lumpur is invited to join the Sambutan Hari Raya and Pesta Tanglung event organised by The Lions Club of Subang Jaya. The objective of this event is to promote LEO and charitable organisations. There will be various performances, competitions, a games and food booth, Tanglung DIY classes, health talks, an autocar show and other activities held during the event.

Each booklet costs RM10 and all funds will be donated to charity.

Visit To Orphanage - Sunbeams and Purelife (20/8/11)

The Leo Club of Sri Kuala Lumpur had organised a visit to Yayasan Sunbeams and Purelife Society on the 2oth of August 2011. The event was attended a few members accompanied by teachers. This event started at 8.30a.m. and ended at 2:00p.m. Our objective was to hand in 2 cheques each RM17500 raised from our annual Leo Club Charity Dinner to both of these orphanages. Yayasan Sunbeams was located at Cheras and Purelife Society at Puchong.

We departed from school and went to Yayasan Sunbeams first. Once there, we were greeted by the owner of the ophanage, Mr.Tan. He gave us a short introduction about the orphanage and showed us around the orphanage which was actually 4 separate buildings linked together. We also saw a painting contributed by Mines drawn on one of the walls. There was also a "penyambut bayi" outside the orphanage. Its purpose is to save the babies that are victims of baby-dumping. We then presented the cheque to Mr.Tan and took a group photo with all the orphans of Yayasan Sunbeams.

We then left Yayasan Sunbeams and headed for Purelife Society in Puchong. Once we got there, we had to wait for about 20 minutes before the event coordinator, Mr. Koh came. He gave us a short introduction about the Purelife Society and showed us around. The Purelife Society was very well equipped with facilitites such as a library and a computer lab. The orphanage also had their own reservoir which collects rainwater to be used for domestic purposes.

Mr. Koh then took us up a hill where a prayer hall was. Behind was a garden where the late Swami Satyananda was buried. Next, we proceeded to the canteen and helped serve food to the orphans. Shortly after, Mother A Mangalam arrived and our president presented the cheque to the Purelife Society. Just before we left, we took a group photo and reached school safely at about 2.00p.m.

Sri KL's Annual Charity Dinner

Every year, our club organises what we call, "Charity Dinner".

What we do is that we hold a huge dinner gala at a specific ballroom and sell our tickets to the students of Sri Kuala Lumpur to raise funds. These funds are donated to various charitable homes chosen by us. It will be held at Empire Hotel, Subang Jaya on the 22nd of April 2011. This year, we've chosen two orphanage homes called YAYASAN SUNBEAMS HOME and PURE LIFE SOCIETY for us to donate to. Our goal this year is to reach at least RM25,000, but of course, the more the better right?

How YOU can help?

Simply donate a little, or donate a lot. It depends on you. Every penny counts! One of these homes need at least RM80,000 EVERY MONTH to nurse the orphans.

So, if you're looking for doing a good deed, please do donate to us and we will compile everyone's money and donate it to them, where they REALLY need it.

Rebirth
